Wattle Festival 2025
The Hurstbridge Wattle Festival is held the last Sunday in August each year.
It’s a joyous celebration of our unique Australian heritage, environment and community.
It’s a chance for locals to come out of winter hibernation and celebrate the joys of living in Melbourne’s green wedge in the Diamond Valley. This annual event in Hurstbridge began in 2004 and has grown in strength each year. The 2020 & 2021 festivals moved online, trying to bring the joy of the festival to our community even during COVID. Available all year round, the online festival gave you the chance to explore the township of Hurstbridge - shops, community groups and activities.
In 2022 the festival returned to the streets of Hurstbridge with record breaking numbers estimated to be over 15,000 people. A true community event where every community space comes alive to celebrate spring and show what Hurstbridge has to offer.
Hurstbridge Memory Care Café
Hurstbridge Memory Care Café
Mondays
1:00pm to 3:00pm
Community Lounge
A social meeting place for those living with dementia and their carers, to gather and enjoy a coffee/tea and conversation with each other.
The Memory Care Café provides a social meeting place for those living with dementia and their carers, to gather and enjoy a coffee/tea and conversation with each other.
The café is open from 1.30 – 3pm on Monday afternoons at the Hurstbridge Community Hub. It is run by healthAbility Staff in conjunction with volunteers. Those attending the café need to be accompanied by their carer (for safety and security reasons).
A Health Ability Staff member facilitates activities (board games, crafts etc.) for those living with Dementia with each participant being free to be involved in the activities, or if preferred, just observe. Volunteers assist the facilitator by joining in the games/craft and conversation and assisting with refreshments.
Carers meet in a separate area for a chat, and a volunteer may help facilitate introductions and conversation where necessary. Health Ability staff are also on hand to provide advice regarding the range of support services available through government agencies, community organisations and other networks.
Afternoon tea is made available throughout the afternoon.
A nominal cost of $5.00 is charged for those living with dementia which can be deducted from the person’s care package or by fee waiver application (if applicable).
If you would like to know more about the Memory Care Café or register your interest, please phone Rachel Dunn on (03) 9430 9125 or email SSG@healthability.org.au

Gigs in the Bridge No. 1
Katankin
Helen’s unique and compelling voice, along with her poetic, cuts-to-the-bone songwriting, put their unmistakable stamp on Katankin’s songs. She writes and sings unflinchingly from the darkest recesses, and the soft, often icky underbelly of the human experience – wading through love, despair, loathing, tenderness, fear, rage, lust, and then up, up, up into the light.
Mary-Lynn Griffith
Sassy singer songwriter, Mary-Lynn Griffith, brings melodious melodica, enthusiastic ukulele, dynamic vocals and a hot rhythm guitar and sings about love and loss, old myths, game shows and sometimes the GST, (and yearns to be part of a glorious revolution you can dance to). MLG has played across Australia and in Europe and is a part of the band “Siren”.
Pop up Christmas Carols in Hurstbridge Village
The fun vocal group, Sisters and Misters, will be singing Christmas carols in Hurstbridge in two locations. They are fun people! Great for grown-ups and kids alike. They’ve even appeared on Australia’s Got Talent. Come and enjoy some festive spirit on the main streets of Hurstbridge.
10.30 AM Wattle Place, 802 Main Road, Hurstbridge (Between Oku Den & The Speckled Hen)
11.30 AM Anzac Memorial Park, 910 Heidelberg-Kinglake Rd, (at the second roundabout as you come into the Village.) Next two Workin’ Clobber and opposite Heart and Soul Cafe.
There is a fun playground for the little ones.
Each performance approximately 30 minutes.
