After a relatively lengthy design and consultation period, works have begun on improvements for pedestrians and parking access around the Dorset House and Brown House group of shops, on Anzac Avenue, adjacent to Anzac Park.
HTA streetscaping sub-committee have worked hard throughout 2011 to keep streetscaping in Hurstbridge Village on the agenda at Nillumbik Council. This directly resulted in an amount of $150,000 being allocated to upgrades in Hurstbridge and the consultation process began in mid 2011.
New businesses in the brown house complex of shops are attracting higher levels of patronage and hence the flow of traffic has become more congested around this bottom end of Anzac Avenue (near the Main Road roundabout). Pedestrian safety and accessibility to shops has become more and more of an issue, with pedestrians currently forced to walk around the back of parked cars and onto the roads.
The upgrades address these problem by creating the missing pedestrian pathway linking the path outside Wildwood with the end of the path near the lane way to the south of the brown house shopping complex. The works are due for completion within 4 weeks.
